In a thread shared to Reddit, the woman vented: “She is pregnant for the first time and doesn’t know the gender of her child as neither her husband nor her want to know before the birth.

“They have one for each.”

She then went onto reveal that she has her heart set on for Raven for a boy, and Femily for girl, and says that no matter what anyone tells her friend, she “won’t budge.”

Despite initially putting it down to her pregnancy hormones, the woman was shocked to discover her friend’s husband agreed with her pal, and also liked the names.

“They have painted the baby room and ordered towels, baby grows etc with initials on key pieces, saying if they get a girl they will save the other stuff for when they have a boy and vice versa,” she continued.

Sharing her issue with the chosen monikers, she noted how she believes Raven is a girl’s name and has never heard of a boy or man with that moniker.

She goes on to say that when she asked her pal why she’d settled on the name in particular, she explained that if they have a baby with jet black hair and her blue eyes, it’ll be “the cutest baby ever.”

But the confused woman noted how both she and the husband have ginger hair, so she doesn’t know how she came to that conclusion.

“I know she has a favourite book with a character that looks like that, but even in the book the main character doesn’t have that name,” the woman added.

“As for Femily…. F E M I L Y…. when you have the perfectly reasonable name Emily.”

It wasn’t long before the social media posted racked up hundreds of comments, with many eager to share their very honest opinions on the names in question.

“Femily sounds like a brand of discount feminine hygiene spray,” wrote one.

“Raven is definitely the lesser of the evils in this case.”

A second commented: “Femily just reminds me of the line in Mean Girls: I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony.

“Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.”

Meanwhile, a third agreed: “Femily is a Very Special choice!”

Another added: “Raven is forgivable. That’s the end of my positive feedback.”

And a further chimed in: “Femily is horrible however Raven is also a male name in certain countries.

“I’ve actually personally met 2 men named Raven (spelt Raven and Ravn), but Femily is just…no.”
