‘Poor AF’ single dad shares budget dinner for his kids, but everyone’s saying the same thing about his oven

A SELF-DESCRIBED “poor AF” single dad has shared a budget-friendly dinner for his kids, but virtually all the comments were about his oven.

He explained he had to come with a dinner for his kids and himself on a “tight budget”, and documented the process in a video on his TikTok page.

So he’d decided to use a tin of Fray Bentos chicken meatballs in tomato sauce.

He tipped the tin into a frying pan, using a fork to pull out the remaining meatballs.

He then added a generous helping of salt, before crushing up some breadsticks and adding them in too.

Once he was done, he added the dish to the plates, and put some plain breadsticks on the side.

“Dinner for 3 as a poor AF single father,” he wrote over the top of his video.

But the comments section was immediately filled with people remarking on the state of his oven and hob, rather than the meal itself.

“It doesn’t hurt to clean a bit tho,” one wrote.

“Wet cloth that’s all that’s needed,” another added.

“If money’s tight, no excuse.”

“An Asda pack of sponges literally cost 40p,” a third pointed out.

I’m not on benefits but take free food from donations people have made – people moan I’m nicking from the poor, I don’t care

“If you can buy a £1 tin of meatballs you can buy a 40p pack of sponges!”

“Can still get cloths cheap! 70p for 20 sponges….£1 for cloths, it’s not an excuse,” someone else agreed.

“Hygiene and cleanliness don’t cost,” another said.

“Elbow grease costs nothing,” someone else said.

As another argued: “If he can afford a phone and credit to stream this video he can clean up.”

“Tight budget or not you can still clean,” someone else said.

“It doesn’t cost anything to clean, it’s a wonder you haven’t poisoned yourself,” another wrote.

“Just how tight is this budget please?” someone else asked.

Dirtiest Items In Your Home You’re Probably Forgetting To Clean

Research shows people are exposed to an average of 60,000 types of germs on a daily basis.

Cleaning expert and Product Development Scientist at Astonish, Olivia Young, reveals the dirtiest items in your home and how to clean them.

Kitchen sponges or cloths

Some of the items we use to clean surfaces are actually the dirtiest. From wiping down worktops, to cleaning dishes, kitchen sponges or clothes are used multiple times throughout the day. And when doing so, it’s usually wet and warm, meaning if it’s not cleaned properly, it can be a prime spot for bacteria to grow.

As a general rule of thumb, if you’ve used your sponge for around two weeks – it’s time to replace it.

Shoes

Shoes are without a doubt an item in your home that is full of bacteria. A study suggested a single shoe sole has an average of 421,000 units of bacteria, but there’s no need to panic.

Most of these germs that gather on shoes won’t come into contact with other areas of your house, assuming that you take them off as you enter or put them in a box in your wardrobe.

Pet bowls and toys

Pet bowls have actually been found to be the third most contaminated item in households, meaning they are a breeding ground for germs and bacteria that could make you and your pet unwell.

Give them a wash with warm soapy water after each use to keep bacteria at bay. For toys, if they’re plastic you can soak them in warm water with either disinfectant or soap, soft toys can be cleaned thoroughly in a washing machine on a gentle cycle.

Toothbrush holder

Your toothbrush holder is probably not something you’ve considered to be dirty – but there’s more germs in the container that holds your toothbrush, than the taps on your sink.

Clean your toothbrush holder at least once or twice a week.

To which another hit back: “Be nice, honestly, you don’t know how much this poor guy must be struggling.”

“Well done not many people do as well as you as a single dad,” someone else said.

As another wrote: “I understand he may be struggling but seriously costs nothing to clean up.”
