Steph McGovern claims Sally Nugent is 'right choice' to replace Breakfast's Louise Minchin


Steph McGovern, 39, has congratulated BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent, 50, over her new permanent role with the BBC. The Packed Lunch host currently hosts her own show on Channel 4 after leaving the aforementioned morning show in 2019.

Sally announced earlier today on Twitter that she would be joining Dan Walker permanently as the co-presenter on BBC Breakfast.

Steph took to Twitter to congratulate her friend on her new role.

She said in view to her 415,400 followers: “YES!!

“Totally the right choice!

“It’s an honour to take the reins from Louise and be part of the UK’s most watched breakfast show.”

For almost a decade Sally has made regular appearances on the show and has also worked as a sports presenter.

She has been a journalist for 25 years after launching her career at BBC Radio Merseyside.

Last year, she won the Scoop of the Year award at the 2021 Royal Television Society Journalism Awards.
