Khloe Kardashian has revealed she made Tristan Thompson take ‘three paternity tests’ because of her son’s resemblance to her brother.
The former couple welcomed baby Tatum via a surrogate in July, 2022, and have been co-parenting the little one and their older daughter, True, together ever since.
Following his birth, the Good American designer star has continuously shared her amazement over the little one’s similarities to her brother, Rob Kardashian – as well as their late father, Robert Kardashian sr.
Appearing on the She MD podcast, she admitted that the likeness had her questioning Tatum’s biological father at points.
‘My son looks just like my brother, and my brother’s one of my favorite people,’ she told OBGYN Dr Thais Aliabadi – aka Dr A – and Mary Alice Haney. ‘My son is a year and a half, and he’s sarcastic, and my dad had a really dry, silly, crazy sense of humor.
‘There’s glimmers of my dad in Tatum. I’m like, this is so freaking weird.’
When Dr Aliabadi joked that he looks more like Rob than anyone else, and ‘could be his son’, Khloe revealed she asked her former partner to undergo multiple paternity tests just in case.
‘Because he was an IVF baby, or a surrogate baby, I was like, “Rob, have you ever donated sperm somewhere?” I made Tristan do three DNA tests for Tatum. He was so offended,’ she continued.
‘In this family, that would not surprise me, but that would be so disgusting.’
Elsewhere in the chat, the Kardashians star explained that she struggled to bond with Tatum at first due to the drama going on in her private life – after it emerged that Tristan had secretly fathered another son shortly into their surrogacy journey.
The NBA star went on to introduce son Theo with personal trainer Maralee Nichols at the very end of 2021 – overlapping his decision to expand his family with Khloe.
Reflecting on Tatum’s arrival, the mom-of-two confessed that she ‘hysterically cried’ when being told that he was arriving early, interrupting her final weekend alone with True.
‘The whole surrogacy pregnancy, I was really detached. I couldn’t really face it – I very much think I was in denial that this was happening,’ she recalled. ‘I remember, Dr. A. called and said she just had a checkup with my surrogate, and she said, “Khloe, we have to deliver within 24 hours.”
‘The baby wasn’t due for another week or two, and this was my last weekend with my daughter True, in my head. I just needed the weekend.
‘And so I go, “No, we can’t do this.” And [Dr. A’s] like, “No, there’s no fluid in the sac. We need to do this.” And I go, “I’m having a weekend. I’m having a weekend with True.”
‘And she goes, this is the Mother Theresa – I started hysterically crying because it wasn’t even about the weekend, it was about now this is real – she goes, “I’ll deliver the baby. I’ll take the baby and you let me know when you’re ready to pick him up.”
‘I was like, “What? Who does this? Who even offers that?” And she did. And I remember I was like to myself, “Khloe, snap out of it. This is life. We got to do this.”’
