Saffron Barker, 19, seemed unimpressed when AJ Pritchard, 24, tried to deny being at fault after she suffered a few falls while training for Strictly Come Dancing 2019. The YouTuber spoke out about the professional dancer’s mishaps in a video shared by BBC Strictly’s official Instagram account yesterday. The duo addressed the issue in a question and answer session with viewers. One fan quizzed the pair: “Have you ever dropped each other when doing a lift in training?”
AJ was quick to deny dropping Saffron, suggesting he is too much of a “gentleman” to let any accidents happen.
He said: “I have never ever ever dropped Saffron in training because I’m a gentleman and I wouldn’t allow it to happen.”
However, the professional dancer looked a little sheepish when Saffron hit back: ”No you have, you have!”
AJ then admitted: “I’ve lowered you to floor once or twice…”
Saffron continued: “And I’ve fallen, which counts as a drop.”
The Strictly hopeful went on to reveal AJ had in fact dropped her quite a few times.
She added: “So I’m going to guess three times.”
Saffron and AJ’s debate about training mishaps comes after the dancer’s brother Curtis Pritchard, 23, revealed what he really thinks of the vlogger.
In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, the Love Island 2019 star explained he has met his sibling’s dance partner on a number of occasions.
Addressing her enthusiasm towards dance, Curtis said: “I’ve met her a couple of times, she’s lovely.
“She’s a bubbly young lady and she has a smile on her face all the time. She gives it a go and she just enjoys things.”
Curtis, who is also a professional ballroom and Latin dancer, went on to offer a critique of Saffron and AJ’s week one performance.
He added: “I think the Tango they did was an incredible dance.
“She picked it up, she did it technically so well, her right shoulder was a little raised up.
“She needed to pull it down and drop it for a cleaner line for the Tango but I was very impressed with the first dance.”
He predicted: “I think they could be a couple to look out for.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 6.40pm on BBC One.
