Rebel Wilson says she DIDN'T use Ozempic to lose 36 kilos during 'year of health' but 'experimented' with the drug to maintain her weight loss after welcoming baby daughter

Rebel Wilson admitted that she used type 2 diabetes drug Ozempic to help her weight loss – but insists it was only after she did it on her own.

The Australian actress shed 35 kilos (80lbs) during her ‘year of health’ back in 2020, but says she did so without help from the trendy medication.

The 44-year-old said she ‘experimented’ with it briefly to maintain her weight loss after welcoming her baby daughter via surrogate in November 2022.

‘I wish I had known about it in 2020. If I had known about it, I would have tried it, one hundred percent’ she told The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett this week.

‘(It was) more for when I had lost like, 35 kilos, I was like, I can’t continue working out and having this level of focus. And I was very worried that the weight would come back on’ she added.

Rebel says she is no longer taking the semaglutide injectable but would consider trying it again as it helped her cravings for sweets and curbed her stress eating.

‘Now I have gained back 10 kilos, I guess because of having a baby and I just can’t work out to the level that I used to’ she said.

‘And so I tried it for a few months for weight management, I guess you could call it.

‘I had an unlimited ability to eat sweets and chocolates and ice cream and stuff and that drug helped for me to feel full whereas, I would not feel like that before. I could eat a tonne’ she explained.

‘I actually liked it. I think for people like me those drugs can be really affective, but obviously I’m not on it right now. But maybe if I was prescribed by a doctor I would go back on it’.

Rebel – whose polycystic ovarian syndrome affects fertility – originally decided to slim down at the urging of her IVF doctor in 2019.

The SAG Award nominee and her fiancée Ramona Agruma eventually welcomed their 16-month-old daughter Royce Lillian Elizabeth Wilson via surrogate in 2022.

Rebel (born Melanie Bownds) previously claimed to have successfully reached her 75 kilo (165lb) goal weight through high-intensity interval workouts with fitness trainer Jono Castano Acero, long hikes, and a high-protein/low-sugar diet.

In the past four years, Wilson has admitted to gaining some of it back including 10 kilos (20lbs) from ‘stress eating’ leading up to the release of her upcoming memoir Rebel Rising.

‘I feel strongly that young women shouldn’t try to obsess over looking like Victoria’s Secret models — they should just look like themselves,’ Wilson – who’s an ’emotional eater’ – admitted to The Sunday Times.

‘I know that my relationship with food is complicated.’

Other celebrities who’ve admitted to taking Ozempic include Elon Musk, Chelsea Handler, Amy Schumer, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood, Lauren Manzo, Dolores Catania, Jennifer Fessler, Golnesa ‘GG’ Gharachedaghi, and Remi Bader
