Oleksandr Usyk was taken straight to hospital following his sensational world title victory over Tyson Fury.

In an epic fight to crown heavyweight boxing’s first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis, Usyk dug deep to seal a split decision win over ‘The Gypsy King’ in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night.

With Fury seemingly in control, Usyk responded in an unforgettable ninth round, sending his rival to the canvas with a series of devastating shots that was enough to tip the fight in his favour.

The WBA, WBO and IBF champion added Fury’s WBC belt to his collection to conquer the division in an enthralling contest were both men absorbed huge damage.

After addressing the crowd in an emotional post-fight interview, Usyk was pictured being helped by members of his team back to the dressing room.

Speaking at the start of post-fight press conferences, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren revealed Usyk would not be attending, having been taking to hospital with a suspected broken jaw.

Alexander Krassyuk, Usyk’s promoter, later explained Usyk had been desperate to attend the press conference in person but was advised to go straight to hospital to undergo a scan.

Speaking immediately after the fight, Krassyuk felt his fighter had been robbed of a knockout win in that ninth round where he left Fury in a daze.

Speaking to DAZN, he said: ‘I am exhausted. I was cheering and backing Usyk the whole fight. No disrespect to the referee but he stole the KO. That’s my opinion. It was a tremendous performance.’
