The populist Reform UK party will be eager to do well in the Blackpool South by-election where results are expected to be announced between 2.00am and 4.00am.
James Kanagasooriam of research company Focal Data said that the party should be registering a vote of around 18-20 per cent, given that around 68 per cent of voters in the constituency backed Brexit in 2016.
Reform is polling around 15 per cent, according to YouGov, only three points behind the ruling Conservatives.
“If Reform touches 20 per cent then the surge is real and that’s a big moment,” Kanagasooriam told the FT.
