World War 3: Safest countries in the world to escape to as Iran and US continue feud

World War 3 is an eventuality no one wants to imagine, however as tensions reignite between Iran and the US, many could be wondering how to escape a worst-case scenario. Luckily, the global peace index is on hand to provide an insight into some of the world’s safest locations.

The Global Peace Index (GPI) is based on several indicators which are utilised to determine a countries peacefulness ranking.

Indicators include perceptions of criminality, homicide, incarceration, violent crime and demonstrations, access to weapons, political instability and terrorism impact.

According to the GPI for 2019, it was the first time tensions across the world had eased somewhat in the last five years.

The global peace index states: “The average country score improved by -0.09 per cent, with 86 countries improving and 76 recording deteriorations.”

According to the GPI: “Half of the countries in Europe, the world’s most peaceful region, have deteriorated in peacefulness since 2008. Iceland is the only Nordic country that is more peaceful now than in 2008.”

It is joined at the top of the index by New Zealand, Austria, Portugal, and Denmark.

However, unsurprisingly Iran and the US both are both considered less peaceful.

The US has a peaceful score of 128 out of 163, meanwhile, Iran ranks even lower, with a score of 139 out of 163.

However, US President Donald Trump has rejected these claims.

He said: “The Report of Iran capturing CIA spies is totally false.

“Zero truth. Just more lies and propaganda like their shot down drone put out by a Religious Regime that is Badly Failing and has no idea what to do.

“Their Economy is dead and will get much worse.

“Iran is a total mess!”
