UK’s most beautiful walk includes historic landmarks and gorgeous views

As spring finally arrives in the UK, it’s the ideal time to get out on a hike and see some of the country’s natural beauty.

If you’re planning a staycation this spring, why not check out one of the UK’s prettiest areas for walking?

The outdoor experts at Blacks have put together a list of the best walking routes in the UK and there are hikes that are suitable for all levels.

It’s important to check the weather forecast before setting out on a walk and make sure you have all the necessary supplies.

So where are the prettiest hiking routes in the UK?

Hadrian’s Wall Path, Northern England

The 84 mile trail tracks the ancient Roman wall and takes in historic landmarks as well as offering incredible views of the Northumberland countryside.

Natalie Bryne at Blacks said: “The terrain on this route is varied, with some steep climbs and descents, but the path is generally well-maintained. The beauty of this walk is that there are several routes to choose from that vary in distance and difficulty.

“For those who crave a challenge the routes in the central section of the trail will prove the most exciting.”

South West Coast Path, South West England

A 630 mile trail, this walking route covers the South West peninsula coastline and if tourists are lucky they might spot dolphins and seals in the water below.

Although this is one of the UK’s prettiest walks, it is best suited to experienced walkers as it can be quite challenging.

Cotswold Way, Gloucestershire

Passing through countryside, this walk is lined with wildflowers in spring. It’s a great choice for families.

West Highland Way, Scottish Highlands

A 96 mile route, the West Highland Way has views of Ben Nevis and Loch Lomond. It can be challenging in part.

The Great Glen Way, Scottish Highlands

Passing by Loch Ness and Ben Nevis, this is a gorgeous walking route in one of Scotland’s prettiest regions.

Bethany Leedham, social media executive at Blacks said: “Springtime has got to be my favourite season to go on this walk – the trail comes alive with wildflowers creating a stunning sight against the backdrop of the Scottish Highlands that’s hard to beat.

“If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of some of the local wildlife such as eagles and red deer.”
