Often voted the most beautiful are the Shetland Islands or the Isle of Skye in Scotland as well as the Isles of Scilly off the coast of Cornwall.

However, the Isle of Wight has been the most popular overall.

The research, conducted by Island Cottage Holidays looked at the 76 islands around the UK coastline to reveal which came out on top.

Along with being the most Instagram-friendly, it also looked at where had the least crowds, best beaches and best for foodies.

The Isle of Wight has a lot going for it as a holiday destination this year – it has given the first jab of the vaccine to more than 60 per cent of the population, and the Isle of Wight festival has moved to September with hopes to go ahead this year.

Here are the top 10 Instagram-friendly islands you can visit around the UK.
