Perfect for parties, pools and shopping, Playa de la Americas is a purpose-built resort on Tenerife‘s southwest coast.

Boasting year-round warm weather and sandy beaches, it’s the perfect spot for soaking up some sun. When it comes to a girls holiday everything is taken care of, with duty-free shops,  great tapas restaurants, a waterpark on the doorstep and the upmarket resort of Los Cristianos just next door.

On a night out, start off at the Starco Centre, which is packed with bars. Later you can head over the road to Veronicas strip where clubs keep going until six in the morning.

Stay at the Vanilla Garden Boutique Hotel, an adults-only hotel five minutes walk from Playa de las Americas and sandy beaches. The adults-only hotel just had a makeover and is perfect for an Instagram post. Palm trees surround the hotel swimming pool, along with umbrellas, sunbeds and a pool bar. And there’s often a poolside DJ playing chilled-out tunes.

If you fancy a bit of celeb spotting, style and glamour on your next girl’s trip try Costa Adeje.

Apparently the Beckhams are fans of the town, which is on Tenerife’s south coast. It’s hardly surprising, with its luxury villas, five-star hotels, designer shopping and waterfront restaurants – it even has its own waterfall.

Groups can spend their days exploring the Plaza del Duque mall, which has three floors of shops, including the only Cartier store in Tenerife, and hitting the Playa del Duque, the most stylish beach in the Canaries.

It’s got 500 metres of pristine sand dotted with sunloungers, palm-leaf parasols and changing cabins. The landscaped promenade nearby has cafes offering everything from ice-creams to seafood platters.

This town is great for a laidback holiday – though the party bars and clubs of Playa de las Americas are just a stone’s throw away should you want them.

Stay at the Guayarmina Princess Hotel which has sea views, a wellness centre and smart interiors. An adults-only hotel, it’s just a short taxi ride from the beaches of Costa Adeje and has a lovely pool and a couple of bars.

If you splash out for a junior suite you’ll have access to the hotel’s luxe Platinum area where there’s an infinity pool, plus an extra restaurant and bar.

Ibiza, Playa D’en Bossa

Playa d’en Bossa is an all-rounder with sunsets, boho vibes and bars. The clubs have a reputation around the Balearic Islands – with names like Ushuaia and Bora Bora – but it also comes with a great waterpark and the longest beach on the island.

Nail the hippie-chic Ibiza look at the bars and restaurants on the beachfront – many have boutiques selling kaftans, sarongs and bikinis.

The area’s beach bars start to come to life at 4.30pm, with a mixed crowd of Premiership footballers to local Ibizans.

Stay at the Ibiza Twiins, which was fully revamped last year. There’s a massive pool that faces the ocean, three restaurants and a spa with a free-to-use gym. The hotel is right on the seafront of lively Playa d’en Bossa beach which offers waterfront bars, surfing and volleyball.

Zante, Kalamaki

Stay at a chilled-out retreat in Zante

On the southern shores of Zante, Kalamaki is ideal for groups who like a bit of peace and quiet. It’s a traditional Greek village, full of olive groves and home to a postcard-worthy beach.

Loggerhead turtles come to lay their eggs on the soft sand here – you can even book a Turtle Island Cruise to see them yourself. Otherwise you can spend days chilling at the pool and tucking into delicious Greek food.

Stay at the Hotel Bitzaro Palace, a chilled-out retreat with a beach, bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel is a mix of modern decor and traditional design – think a stylish pool deck with classic Greek whitewashed walls and draped pink flowers.

There’s low-key entertainment on a couple of nights a week but if you’re after something livelier, you can stroll to the centre of Kalamaki in 10 minutes or head to Zakynthos Town, a fifteen minute taxi ride away.

Marmaris, Turkey

Marmaris is larger than your average resort, so it’s not surprising it has so a lot more to offer.

Set on Turkey’s Turquoise Coast, it’s got a smart marina and an old town with a historic castle, as well as all the modern restaurants, bars and lively clubs you’d expect.

At the beach, as well as sunbathing you can also try out jet-skiing.

Stay at Club Adakoy Resort, which has its own private beach and is within easy reach of shops, restaurants and bars. It’s based on the Adakoy Peninsula, with rooms that look out over the coast, mountains or gardens.

There’s a sea-view pool and a restaurant as well as a bar and a spa.
