The Nest start date announced as new Martin Compston series set to hit screens this month


Viewers finally know when they can catch the new BBC drama starring Martin Compston and Sophie Rundle.

The Nest is a five-part series which was filmed in areas across the west coast of Scotland, exploring a surrogacy pact between a wealthy couple and a teenage girl.

Line Of Duty star Martin will play Dan, with Peaky Blinders actress Sophie will take on the role of his partner.

The first advert was released earlier this month and caused a storm on social media, featuring lots of landmarks including Glasgow’s Clyde Arc Bridge and the city’s Botanic Gardens .

The Nest was created by Bafta-winning writer Nicole Taylor, who penned BBC drama Three Girls, about the Rochdale grooming scandal.

Her previous credits also include The C Word starring Sheridan Smith and the film Wild Rose starring Julie Walters.

Martin said last year: “I’m absolutely delighted to join the cast of The Nest.

“Nicole Taylor is one of the most exciting and original voices in writing today, I’m chuffed we’re finally working together.

“Combined with filming in Glasgow and going back on to BBC One in my native west coast accent makes it a dream scenario.”

Focusing on the teen’s decision to carry the pair’s baby for them, The Nest is billed by the BBC as an emotional thriller. from Bafta-winning writer Nicole Taylor.

And it will air on BBC One from Sunday, March 22.

Actor Bailey Patrick shared the news earlier today to get us all excited for the show’s transmission.

Filming wrapped on the production in December 2019 and Greenock-born actor Martin said at the time: “Been a wild four months and an absolute privilege. Huge thanks and congrats to the rest o the wonderful cast and crew.”
