The most confiscated food item at airport security is a British staple

People who work in airport security see a lot of odd things.

From sex toys to live spiders, there’s few things that can surprise a seasoned airport employee.

But now it’s been revealed what the most common FOOD confiscated from passengers before they get airside at London City Aiport is.

And it’s a British staple.

Research has revealed Marmite is the most confiscated branded food item at London City Airport security.

And for unknown reasons, there’s been a 50% increase throughout the first three months of 2019 in travellers absent-mindedly leaving the yeasty snack in their hand luggage.

If this trend continues, London City Airport are set to seize over 2,000 jars this year alone.

Ensuring Brits don’t go without their favourite toast topper, Marmite will be on hand at London City Airport on 30th April from 12pm – 4pm, holding a Marmite amnesty at its security gates, where all customers can swap their over-sized, prohibited jars of Marmite for British Airways’ 70g version.
