In tier 2, which the majority of the UK is, only households can socialise inside, but can mingle with up to six people outside of this if outdoors.

Tier 3 pubs are not allowed to reopen with guests, and can only offer takeaway service.

Pubs which have gardens have seen bookings for punters sell out – out of 47,000 pubs in the UK there are 27,000 with gardens, according to The British Beer & Pub Association.

There are also new rules which have to be followed across England – drinks can only be enjoyed if buying a ‘substantial meal’ (leading to the latest Scotch Egg debate over what constitutes a meal) and last orders are at 10pm, with pubs closing at 11pm.

Here are our favourite pubs across the country that are open, which have gardens big enough to be at a socially distanced table with your mates.
