When asked why she forgave Sam, 27, after he threw insults at her during a row in Thailand, before pursuing Demi Sims, Shelby said: ‘Life’s too short. Now I’m older I’m not really there to hold grudges.

‘There’s more to life than negativity. He might have said stuff back then. We apologised to each other. There’s no issue, he’s been horrible to me in the past but we’re super happy now. We had to go through what we went to get to where we are now and I think that says a lot.

News of their rekindling was a far cry from when Sam revealed to MailOnline he refused to film with her after feeling she manipulated their Thailand argument to her benefit.

He said at the time: ‘I’m quite intelligent and I was very naive and played. But listen, Shelby is a one-trick pony, without a relationship or a man in her life what else is she bringing to the show? Nothing.’

But Shelby said the pair had smoothed out their differences since becoming an official couple.

She said: ‘We never were a couple before so this time now was the time where we decided to be a couple. To be honest it’s my life and if I chose to forgive. People say things in anger that we don’t mean at the time, we hadn’t slept he didn’t mean what he said.

‘I have a right to forgive him and take him back. It’s my choice to take him back. I’m happy, he said sorry. He apologised. I chose to forgive. I think people should have that attitude in life, if people forgave a lot more.’.

Shelby also revealed she is planning a blissful future with Sam, with marriage and babies on the cards.

She said: ‘For me personally we think about having babies, marriage. He’s got so many qualities that I love in a man and I know that he will make a great partner and dad because of how he is with me.

‘He has so much to offer his work ethic, he works hard, he makes me laugh, caring and supportive.

‘To me he’s an amazing man so why would I not see myself marrying and having kids with him. I really, really love him so of course that is the future. We want to get married and have kids. I definitely see that. I love him so so much.’

Discussing why she fell for Sam, the star continued: ‘I do trust him, he makes me feel good about myself. Your partner is meant to bring out the best in you and I feel like we do bring out the best in each other and that in itself it won’t make you feel insecure.

‘Some people do have a flirty personality at the end of the day, he comes home to me. That’s his personality. I trust him.

‘The thing with me is me and Sam we were friends initially. I already know what Sam is all about so for me it’s a very different relationship. For me it’s a nice thing.’

Sam echoed her sentiments, saying: ‘There’s no secrets. We are thrilled. I had to calm down a little bit. I don’t go out as much. I’m done with that now. I’m 27, she’s 27.

‘I want to live with her and I want to have kids and that soon. I’m very family based I’ve got six nieces and nephew. I wouldn’t say I’m ready for kids now but I would like to start paving that way. I’m heading in that direction. I’ve had enough of f**king about doing what I want when I want.’

The rekindled romance came as a shock as the final episode of the 24th series saw Shelby make her relationship with Tom McDonnell official.

When asked why things had gone south with the pair, she said: ‘Me and Tom tried to make a go of it and as much as he’s a lovely boy it just wasn’t right and people watching the show will know me and Sam always had a thing for each other.

‘We went to Ibiza and something just clicked and we thought you know what there’s so much of a connection we need to like act on it because what is the reason for these feelings.’

Shelby is also embroiled in a feud with co-star Clelia, with the pair recently spotted filming an explosive row on a night out.

The reality stars could be seen screaming at one another during the dramatic scenes just weeks after it was reported they had fallen out, amid claims Shelby had been spending all her time with Sam and not supporting Clelia through a break-up.

‘If you were annoyed at me you could have just picked up the phone to me and I could have said listen. Why save it for a TV show I find it very disappointing the way she’s gone about it.’

‘Obviously I’m sad, hurt and disappointed. Life’s too short to hold grudges and I hope we can work it out.’

Sam claimed the couple had tried to mend their relationship with Clelia but said their efforts had been ignore.

He said: ‘Clelia was dating my best friend. He split up with her, it broke her . She’s been very down throughout the whole process.

‘Me and Shelby were heavily involved, I was looking after her and then she went out to Canada to see her family for a few weeks and when she came back me and Shelby had already been in Spain a week or so. They’ve fallen out but me and Shelby are still yet to find out what her problem is.

‘It’s all going to unravel on the show. Clelia won’t speak to us, she’s ignoring us and won’t take on board my texts. She hasn’t done so for the last five or six weeks, she’s saving it for the show, which in my eyes I think is disgusting.

‘When you’ve been mates with somebody for such a long time there’s a way of dealing with things. I think she’s gone about the wrong way.’

The Only Way Is Essex returns on Sunday September 1 on ITVbe at 9pm.
