Shakespeares Sister are reuniting almost three decades after they released No1 hit Stay

THEY are responsible for the longest-reigning No1 by any female group after spending eight weeks at the top of the charts way back in 1992 with Stay.

And a whopping 27 years after that release, Shakespears Sister are reuniting.

I’m told Siobhan Fahey, who was previously in Bananarama, and Marcella Detroit are heading for a comeback after settling a feud which had lasted almost three decades.

The pair, who won British Video of the Year at the 1993 Brit Awards for Stay, are now expected to be back on stage this year and release new music.

An industry insider revealed: “It’s taken years to broker this truce and reunion between Siobhan and Marcella. They’re both such strong-willed women but they know they make some of their best music when working together. The rumours have been circulating for a while and finally they’re true.”

During their heyday, the duo spent 36 weeks in the Top 40 and released two Top Ten albums. It all came to a messy end in 1993 following months of in-fighting.

The pair are expected to be back on stage performing new music together later this year.

The tensions had surfaced due to their runaway hit, as Marcella had been given the majority of the vocals and also appeared most prominently in the accompanying video. Siobhan felt she had been sidelined, despite founding the group in 1988.

She announced she was dismissing Marcella from the band in a letter read out by her publisher on stage at the Ivor Novello awards — which was how her bandmate discovered she had been kicked out.

Since then, Siobhan has released three albums under the name of Shakespears Sister but as a solo artist — the last being 2011’s Cosmic Dancer, which failed to chart.

If the Spice Girls can put their differences aside, I’m sure these ladies can, too.

Perrie has opened up about her own battle with mental health

The singer opened up about her battle with anxiety in a frank chat in a bid to help the group’s millions of fans talk more about their own mental health.

Perrie said: “When I first started experiencing the panic attacks I developed a fear of being on my own. My mum would even be like, ‘I’m going to the shop for a bottle of milk’. I’d sweat and panic and be like, ‘Please don’t leave me on my own because the second you leave that door, I’m going to have a panic attack and I’m on my own’. My mum got to the point where she didn’t know what to do, because she can’t babysit me 24/7, even though she did for a long time.”

Recalling her first attack, Perrie said: “It was so scary because I didn’t know what was going on. I was ringing doctors, I was ringing everybody being like, ‘I’m dying, I’ve just had a heart attack.’”

Perrie, who has now started to deal with her mental health using therapy, thanked r bandmates Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirwall for keeping her going.

She added: “If I didn’t have the other three girls to think about, and the tour to prepare for, and all the fans that want to see the show be the best it can be, I don’t think I would have come back to work.”

Boyz in the zone for song

BOYZONE plan to put out one more single when their farewell tour ends in October. The band released a final album last November, but Shane Lynch said a new song would “tie everything up”.

However, the song choice is causing friction with his bandmates Keith Duffy, Ronan Keating and Mikey Graham. In an exclusive interview, he said: “I think when it comes to Boyzone and the record company, there’s a certain understanding of what people want from Boyzone and it’s never what I see. I see progressive and left-field stuff.”

He DJs solo at The Grand in Clapham, South London, for its club night The Grand Goes Pop tonight, where his twin sisters Edele and Keavy Lynch will also be performing with B*Witched.

On whether he will make more music after the group splits in October, he said: “I love being part of a band but I guess what runs through my veins mostly is motorsport. I don’t really think about music.”
