Rangers star Alfredo Morelos delivered food parcels to the most vulnerable in his Colombian home town.
Sporting a mask, gloves and Moschino t-shirt, the striker handed out vital parcels, along with other volunteers, around the Botavén area of Cerete, where he grew up.
The 23-year-old’s kind gesture was organised through his charity, the Alfredo Morelos Foundation, amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Lockdown has been imposed in the Cerete area until April 26.
Heartwarming footage shows the Gers player work his way round the town carrying vital packages on Tuesday, wrapped in bin liners, from a car boot to the individual homes.
A statement from the foundation read: “Cerete-born football player, Alfredo Morelos, along with several volunteers from the Alfredo Morelos Foundation, abiding by protection rules, today delivered food parcels to vulnerable families in the Botavén neighbourhood, where he is from.
“The footballer knows the realities the country is facing due to Covid-19.
“He therefore donated hundreds of parcels to ensure families have food during the compulsory self-isolation period that runs until April 26.
“Other areas of Cereté also received food.
“With the humility that he’s famous for, Alfredo made deliveries house-by-house and told the families that they are not alone in this crisis.
“He also mentioned free psychosocial services provided by the Foundation, to all those who need advice for coping with depression, anxiety, fear, domestic violence, among other issues.”
Rangers fans hailed the player for the ‘phenomenal gesture’.
One wrote: “A big heart in football, and an even bigger one in generosity.
“The people of Colombia and Scotland love you.
“Legend.”
Another added: “Unbelievable Alfredo, well done.
“What a phenomenal gesture.”
A third commented: Well in, Morelos!”
We told how Alfredo is expecting his first child, a baby girl with wife Yesenia.
The couple, who’ve been married for almost six years, revealed the unborn baby’s gender on social media to their combined 190,000 followers.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the parents-to-be returned to their naive Colombia from their swish Glasgow apartment to be with family.
