Just ten years after her television debut, Phoebe Waller-Bridge has effectively taken over the world.

It might sound like an overstatement, but make no mistake, as the mind behind television mega-hits Killing Eve, Fleabag, and the freshly announced co-writer of the as-yet untitled 25th James Bond film, we are ready to embrace our new entertainment overlord/lady.

As we try to contain our excitement for Bond 25, let’s take a closer look at what Waller-Bridge has done so far…

Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s career

Waller-Bridge, 33, was born in West London, and grew up in Ealing.

She studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and her first acting role came in 2009, when she appeared in the play Roaring Trade at Soho Theatre.

That same year, she made her television debut as Katie Burbidge on an episode of Doctors.

She scored a few smaller parts in major films like Albert Nobbs and The Iron Lady in 2011, and in 2013, she performed her one-woman show Fleabag at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The play would end up being adapted into the hit BBC series Fleabag, which ran for two seasons from 2016 until 2019, and was written by and starred Waller-Bridge as the titular character.

That same year, Waller-Bridge appeared as Lulu in the Channel 4 show Crashing, another creation of hers which ran for one season.

Then in 2018 the Golden Globe Award-winning Killing Eve, season one of which was written and produced by Waller-Bridge, hit our screens.

Killing Eve, a crime dramedy based on the Codename Villanelle novels by Luke Jennings, has garnered world-wide acclaim and, embroiled as it is with events surrounding international espionage, was likely a very important credential when it came to Waller-Bridge getting the job writing for Bond 25.

Even in the midst of all this writing success, Waller-Bridge took the time to act in major blockbusters like Solo: A Star Wars Story in 2018, and Goodbye Christopher Robin in 2017.

While she’s now stepped down as showrunner for Killing Eve, with the role now going to Emerald Fennell, she’s still an executive producer for the show.

Currently, Waller-Bridge is writing and executive producing Run, a new series about a couple who choose to run away together after spending years apart.

As for her personal life, Waller-Bridge was married to director and television presenter Conor Woodman from 2014 until 2018.

She has a younger brother called Jasper, a music manager, and an older sister called Isobel, a composer who wrote music for Fleabag.
