PewDiePie dislikes being ‘treated like an attraction’ as he reveals ‘cringey’ fan interaction

PewDiePie has revealed his thoughts on fans trying to take secret photos of him, dubbing the move a little awkward and encouraging fans to just treat him like a human.

C’mon guys – the man isn’t in a zoo.

Taking to his YouTube channel on Saturday to answer a whole bunch of fan questions, that we’ve most definitely been very keen to know about, the 30-year-old (who recently announced he was stepping back from the platform next year) was asked for his thoughts on the stealth photo move.

To him, he believes the whole palaver is rude.

‘People taking photos in secret is rude and annoying and cringey as hell because I can see it a lot of times happening,’ he laughed as he explained his interactions with certain fans who go wild for the star.

‘I hate the fact people look at me like I’m some sort of attraction, I’m a person like everyone else and I want be treated like a person. I don’t think that’s too much to ask,’ he explained, shining a light on how crazy it must be to head out in public when you’ve got over 100million subscribers.

‘I hate the whole culture [of celebrity], I’m so tired of it.’

He continued: ‘That’s why I said if you meet me what have to say “is math related to science?”, because that’s how I know if you’re a cloutchaser or if you’re a genuine 19-year-old.’

Pewds – real name Felix Kjellberg – went on to say there is a difference in how his fans from different countries react.

He said in countries like Malaysia fans can be ‘hectic’, but when they go back to Sweden they’re ‘reserved and more polite and calm’.

‘Me complaining about it isn’t because I’m fed up with it, it’s that I want to change it,’ he continued. ‘I love meeting fans, don’t get me wrong, but I also want people to just treat me normally and I don’t like it when people scream and get freaked out, I understand when people get excited…I think there is a culture to teat people like they are more than they are and that annoys me.’

Fair play, Pewds, fair play.
