Five years after losing her beloved father Antony, Nicole Kidman has paid tribute to him on what would have been his 81st birthday.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the 52-year-old actress shared a throwback photo of herself alongside her dad.

‘Today would have been my Papa’s 81st birthday. I love and remember him every day,’ she captioned it, adding a love heart emoji.

She also paid a touching tribute to him in September, on the fifth anniversary of the celebrate psychologist’s untimely death. 

‘My Papa. Always missing you,’ she captioned a photo of them together, once again adding a love heart emoji.

Antony died in September 2014 after suffering a fall while in Singapore visiting Nicole’s sister, Antonia Kidman, 49, who was based there at the time.

In an interview with Tatler last month, Nicole said the sudden loss of her dad shocked her to her core.

The Big Little Lies actress said it was only because of her two young daughters, Sunday, 11, and Faith, eight, that she found the strength to carry on.

‘My [then] three-year-old said, “But you’re not going to be sad like this tomorrow, are you?” That’s when you realise, y’know, you have to be OK,’ she recounted.

‘Because they need to know that they’re safe, that their mother isn’t going to fall apart. Inside? I was beyond shattered. But I had to rally.’ 

In an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in October 2014, just a month after Antony’s death, Nicole said nothing could have prepared her for the loss of a parent.  

‘I’ve realised we don’t talk about it enough in terms of our society. Everybody loses their parents and it’s awful,’ she said.
