Married At First Sight‘s Tracey Jewel has called for a ‘higher duty of care’ from all TV networks following the tragic death of British presenter Caroline Flack, aged 40.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Sunday, the 37-year-old said: ‘The pressure of living life so publicly and the online hate can be all too much as I very well know.

‘The networks need to ensure a higher level of duty of care to look after their stars.’

Tracey also shared a heartfelt Instagram post paying tribute to Caroline, and urging that anybody struggling with their own mental health seeks help immediately. 

‘Saddened by the news that yet another Love Island star, this time a host @carolineflack has ended her life,’ wrote Tracey to Instagram.

‘What’s it going to take for these shows to step up and show a duty of care? 

‘How many lives need to be lost? How can we make those that bully and troll accountable? I hope you have found peace Caroline.’

Former Love Island UK host Caroline ended her life on Saturday at home in London.

Caroline’s death was confirmed by a lawyer for the family on Saturday night.

The Flack family said in a statement: ‘We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today on the 15th February. We would ask that the press respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time.’

Caroline’s suicide marks the third death of stars connected with the ITV2 dating show Love Island UK, with contestants Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon also ending their lives following their appearances on the dating program.

Since finding fame on Married At First Sight’s fifth season in 2018, Tracey revealed the backlash from viewers and social media trolls left her ‘feeling suicidal daily’. 

In July 2019, 15-months after finding fame, she said: ‘No one will hire me, due to all this ongoing negative attention. My name and reputation is ruined.

‘These people have ruined my life. I am suicidal most days.’ 

She has sine campaigned for mental health awareness, and become an accredited Mental Health First Aid Instructor while hoping to help other people.
