Jamie Redknapp apologises to mum as they spend day apart amid coronavirus health fears

Football pundit Jamie Redknapp, 45, will not be seeing his mum Sandra and dad Harry Redknapp today as the pair self-isolate amid coronavirus fears. On Instagram today, Jamie shared unseen family pictures as he paid a tribute to his mum.

In view of his 1.2 million followers, he wrote: “Mum I am so sorry I can’t be with you today to give you a big Mother’s Day cuddle.

“But I will save for next time I can see you. Thanks for teaching me right from wrong and being the most incredible role model for me.

“I love you so much x your baby Jamie xxxx and to all the mums out there stay safe and look after yourselves xxx.”

Yesterday, he shared a screenshot of the pair talking via FaceTime.

He wrote: “Mum and I getting ready for a different type of Mother’s Day.”

Earlier this week, Harry admitted he feared for his and his wife’s health amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Those over the age of 70, with or without health issues, have been told to self-isolate by the Government.

Harry admitted he was even more concerned about his wife as she was diagnosed with sepsis in 2017.

Speaking on Talk Radio, he said: “We have to be careful, my wife especially, I worry. We’re being careful, you need to be.”

When asked if he and Sandra are self-isolating, he added: “We just can’t take any chances now.

“I think the more you see happening in this country, the more careful you’ve got to be.

“I do worry that she’s okay.

“It’s a very serious matter and we’ve got to stick together and look out for people who need help, elderly people, you’ve got to help everybody.”

Harry’s spouse, who he married in 1967, fell ill with sepsis, a bacterial infection, in 2017 and suffered another relapse in May 2018.

He spoke further about his wife’s health battle after his stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last year.

Speaking on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, he said: “I nearly pulled out. I said look, obviously I’m not going to go to Australia and do a show if she’s not well.

“It was scary. If she hadn’t have got the ambulance that night she would have been in desperate trouble. So that was the saver, really.”

On whether Sandra was close to death, Harry said: “I couldn’t think about that… I couldn’t.”

As the coronavirus continues to spread, the Government has urged vulnerable and elderly people to be stringent in following social distancing measures.

To date, 240 people have died in the UK after being diagnosed with the disease.
