Jada Pinkett Smith and her son Jaden have responded after a video allegedly showing YouTuber Shane Dawson ‘sexualising’ Willow Smith has surfaced online.
The disturbing video that surfaced on Twitter showed the YouTube star looking at an 11-year-old Willow on a Disney poster while appearing to pretend to masturbate.
He also appears to sexualise the lyrics to Willow’s hit single Whip My Hair as he says ‘Whip your hair back and forth’ in the clip.
Willow’s mum Jada and older brother Jaden both posted on social media after the video surfaced on Saturday (27 June).
Jada simply tweeted: ‘To Shane Dawson … I’m done with the excuses.’
While Jaden commented: ‘SHANE DAWSON I AM DISGUSTED BY YOU.
‘YOU SEXUALIZING AN 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL WHO HAPPENS TO BE MY SISTER!!!!!! IS THE FURTHEST THING FROM FUNNY AND NOT OKAY IN THE SLIGHTEST BIT.’
It also comes just hours after Shane faced intense backlash for using blackface and racial slurs in his previous videos.
The 31-year-old has previously addressed his actions, after wearing make-up to look black in order to portray different characters, including Wendy Williams and Chris Brown.
And, in a video shared with his 23 million subscribers on Friday 26 June, he issued an apology to anyone that was hurt by his behaviour.
‘Blackface was something that I did a lot. Like, I did it a lot on my channel. There’s no excuse for it, there’s literally no excuse,’ he explained.
‘I made a video six years ago talking about it and I gave excuses, I knew it was wrong, I knew I never wanted to do it again, but I didn’t do the work. I didn’t actually look into the history of it and why it’s so wrong, and why people were so upset.
‘Because my “excuse” [was] “I was just being funny, I love black people, I’m not a racist. I was trying to be funny.” All of that is stupid and wrong. And I put that onto the internet as an adult, and that is insane.
‘I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry to anybody that saw that, and that also saw that people were lifting me up and saying, “You’re so funny, Shane. You’re so funny”. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be black and see this white f***ing guy do blackface and the whole internet at that time be like, “LOL”.
‘That’s insane and I’m so sorry. I don’t know how to even fully apologise because it seems like something that is irredeemable. It’s something that I shouldn’t be able to get out of, I should lose everything for that.’
Shane went on to insist that he doesn’t have ‘hate for any race’ or any people, but understands that some of his jokes ‘went way too far’.
