Ian Ziering’s wife Erin Ludwig on Tuesday filed divorce papers in Los Angeles to end their nine-year marriage, days after he revealed on Instagram the couple was ‘splitting up’ after having ‘grown apart’ in recent years.
Ludwig, 34, filed for a ‘dissolution with minor children’ as the couple are parents to two daughters, Mia, eight, and Penna, six, US reported Tuesday.
A source close to the former couple told the magazine Monday that it was the Sharknado actor, 55, who ‘initiated’ the parting, as Ludwig ‘moved out’ of the home after ‘he asked her to.’

‘It is with a heavy heart that I tell you Erin and I are splitting up,’ Ian began his post along with a picture of two cherubic angels from Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel painting.
He blamed the split on busy work schedules, saying that the couple had ‘grown apart,’ over the past few years.
And while they may be going their separate ways, the BH90210 star had nothing but good things to say about Erin, calling her ‘one of the most incredible women I have ever met and the best mom to our kids.’

Ian then addressed tabloid reports that he said had falsely quoted him.
‘Any quote attributed to me is completely false and solely meant by haters to undermine our intention to continue to get along, protect and raise our daughters, and be examples of successful co-parents,’ he wrote. ‘We ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time as we focus on what is important to us, our girls. Peace and love, Ian.’
Erin also took to Instagram to announce the split, but her post got more detailed about who was responsible for it.

‘Time to give up’: Erin also took to Instagram Thursday to announce the split
‘After 9 1/2 years of marriage Ian asked for a divorce,’ the blogger wrote. ‘After having asked multiple times I knew it was time to give up. Knowing that I am not the person to make him happy makes the situation feel more peaceful.
‘The girls and I are doing great and finding gratitude and love in our new life together and rebuilding.
She finished, ‘I appreciate your love and the sisterhood of women who surrounds me during this time. . . Xo- Erin.’
She also wrote that it was hard to figure out what kind of photo was appropriate for a post about divorce, so she chose a ‘favorite’ of herself.

Ian and Erin first started dating over Labor Day in 2009. The Beverly Hills 90210 alum proposed to Erin just four months after meeting her, making the news public by changing his Facebook relationship status to ‘engaged.’
They got married in May of 2010 and welcomed their first daughter, Mia, just five months later in October.
Their second daughter, Penna, was born three years later in early 2013. This is the second marriage that has ended in divorce for Ian. He was married to former Playboy playmate Nikki Ziering for five years from 1997 to 2002.
