Google will refund you the difference if your flights become cheaper after you book

GOOGLE is expanding its travel offering and it’s great news for bargain-hunting Brits.

As part of the roll out of new features, the search giant has added a new flight tracker function.

Google has recently updated its travel feature

The feature is meant to offer extra insight into the price of flights to help you find and book the cheapest fare.

In a blog post about the new feature, Google said: “We already show you whether prices for a flight route are high, low or typical.

“Starting today you may see the same insights for your exact itinerary.

“Plus, for some flights we’ll show you how the price has changed over the past few months and notify you when we predict the price may go up soon or won’t get any lower.”

And to encourage you to book, Google has added a price guarantee for selected flights.

It said: “When we predict the price won’t decrease for select itineraries booked between August 13 and September 2, we’ll guarantee the price won’t drop, and we’ll refund you the difference if it does. “

While the feature is only for journeys starting in the US at the moment, it is available for international flights, meaning Brits could take advantage of the feature as well.

Google has rolled out several new features for travellers in recent years.

You can also look at prices at nearby airports

Earlier this year, it launched a new hotel comparison feature to make finding cheap hotels easier.

Like the flight search function, it shows you a selection of properties and tells you which ones are cheapest – as well as most discounted – for the time period you’re booking.

And last year, it launched an app to tell customers whether hotel and flight prices are a good deal.

It could even tell you whether your flights might be delayed before your airline.
