Godfather and Chinatown producer Robert Evans, 89 seen in rare images


Robert Evans was seen in new photos shared to social media earlier this month.

The legendary movie producer, who helped bring the first two Godfather movies to life, looked like a hipster in black silk pajamas, a CHE cap with skinny sunglasses as he relaxed in bed at his Beverly Hills home.

The images were shared by socialite Nikki Haskell as she said it was ‘always fun’ to be with the icon who once ruled Hollywood.

She tagged his biggest films – The Godfather, Chinatown and Rosemary’s Baby. 

Evans also is known for his critically acclaimed book which has developed a cult following in the industry. The Kid Stays In The Picture details his rise in Tinseltown and how he worked with some of the biggest actors, including Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.

And he was also known for being married to A Love Story actress Ali MacGraw, until her Getaway co-star Steve McQueen stole her away.

Evans has not been to a public event in a while as he has chosen a more private life. But he did look dapper in 2014

He was also wed to Sharon Hugueny, Camilla Sparv, Phyllis George, Catherine Oxenberg, Leslie Ann Woodward and Lady Victoria White.

The New York native first stood out in the business with an acting role opposite Ava Gardner in the 1957 movie The Sun Also Rises.

He also appeared in The Friend Who Walked The West and Man Of A Thousand Faces.

But it’s in movie producing where he made his name.

In 1972 he produced The Godfather, one of the biggest epics to hit Hollywood. It starred Marlon Brando in the title role and saw a young Pacino work with Diane Keaton.

A favorite: He also was a producer on the acclaimed 1974 classic Chinatown which saw Jack Nicholson as Jake Gittes who falls for a tortured heiress played by Faye Dunaway. The director was Roman Polanski

Evans went on to make The Godfather Part II in 1974.

He also was a producer on the acclaimed 1974 classic Chinatown which saw Jack Nicholson as Jake Gittes who falls for a tortured heiress played by Faye Dunaway.

The director was Roman Polanski. 

In 1976 he made Marathon Man, then the next year Black Sunday and then Players.

His had a massive hit on his hands with the 1980 movie Urban Cowboy which starred John Travolta and Debra Winger.

More big films followed including The Cotton Club with Richard Gere, The Two Jakes (a sequel to Chinatown) with Nicholson and Sliver with Sharon Stone.

His last major film was How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days with Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey.

His memoir, which came out in 1994, gave him another wave of fame. In 2002 it was turned into a documentary. 

And the book was turned into a play with Danny Huston starring as Evans. 

It looks as if Roberts is still working as he is listed on imdb as a producer of The Stranger at the Palazzo d’Oro, about an older woman who has a fling with a younger man in Italy.
