Georgie Gardner makes a VERY cheeky dig at former Today co-host Karl Stefanovic over Ubergate scandal as the app introduces a ‘quiet mode’ for passengers

She was reportedly accused of ‘sitting on the fence’ by Karl Stefanovic in a now-infamous phone call he made during an Uber journey last year.

And Georgie Gardner took a swipe at her former Today co-host over the scandal on Wednesday after Uber introduced a ‘quiet mode’ for passengers – which instructs drivers not to talk to them during their journey.

When radio host Mick Molloy suggested, ‘It’s probably something the Stefanovics should do,’ Georgie, 48, tweeted in reply: ‘Ya reckon?!’

With the new feature, Uber passengers can select ‘Quiet preferred’, ‘happy to chat’ or leave the setting at ‘No preference’.

It was widely believed that Georgie and Karl had fallen out after the Ubergate scandal last March.

It refers to an incident in which Peter Stefanovic had his brother Karl on speakerphone during a phone call in the back of an Uber car.

The siblings were overhead having an animated discussion about their colleagues.

During the call, Karl was ‘overheard’ by an Uber driver complaining about Georgie and other colleagues.

The details of his private conversation were leaked to New Idea.

According to the magazine, Karl had criticised his female co-anchor for ‘sitting on the fence’ and not having enough opinions.

Discussing the rumoured feud in January, Georgie insisted she had ‘love and respect’ for Karl.

There was never any hate… We have a very solid friendship. There’s love, there’s respect, there’s a lot of goodwill,’ she told Stellar magazine.

The journalist went on to say that there are ‘rough and smooth’ patches in their friendship and, ‘we were absolutely capable of having some robust discussions’.

The TV host adds that the pair were both ‘really, really sad’ about Karl’s departure from the Today show.

Karl was axed from the breakfast program amid lagging ratings, with the announcement of his departure made during his honeymoon with new wife Jasmine Yarbrough late last year.
