Courteney Cox is clearly a romantic at heart after jetting across the world to reunite with her boyfriend Johnny McDaid just in time for Christmas.

The Friends actress had been torn apart from the Snow Patrol rocker for a shattering nine months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Johnny, 44, decided to lockdown in his native Derry, Ireland in March to stay with his family while Courteney, 56, remained in California where she lives with daughter Coco.

However, the lovebirds finally got to see each other in person after almost a year of keeping the spark alive via Zoom.

They suddenly popped up together this month in a video they filmed to thank frontline workers in Derry.

Standing close together in the clip, Courteney said: ‘We just want to thank all the people at Ráth Mór in Creggan for all the incredible work you have done this year.’

Johnny added: ‘Well done guys, thank you so much for all the work — it’s so appreciated and, I know it’s been a really tough year, but here’s to a great 2021 ahead.’

In October, Courteney shared her despair at not physically seeing her longtime boyfriend for over 200 days and the ways she’s found to cope with it.

Speaking to Foy Vance on his Vinyl Supper podcast, the actress revealed: ‘At first I was like, wow what do I do with myself? I cook every day, I’ve learned to cook so much more, I’ve perfected it…

‘I haven’t seen John in that many days, he left when the country shut down, the day before.’

The TV star admitted that ‘Sundays are different’ without Johnny and says she does ‘miss a lot of it’.

She continued: ‘Although people are starting to go, “OK, people have been quarantining, everyone’s safe”, they like to come to the beach so I’m not that lonely.

‘I have these two friends, they were gonna quarantine with me, which is great because if I can’t be with John, I don’t wanna be just be by myself with Coco, I’m a little chicken.’

The couple met and began dating in 2013 after being introduced by mutual pal Ed Sheeran and got engaged in 2014.

However, the Cougar Town actress revealed last year that they decided not to get married following a brief split.
