DISNEY World’s Cinderella’s Castle is getting a makeover ahead of the 50th anniversary of the theme park – with gold accents and rose gold towers.

The castle is being renovated also in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the animated film Cinderella, released in 1950.

The new designs reveal gold accents across the towers and spires, along with a rose gold and pink paint job.

The lower part of the castle will be a darker grey brick, contrasting against the gold.

Currently, the castle is white and blue, with the new designs change the turrets to a much darker blue.

In a statement, Disney said: “We are excited to share that her story has inspired a bold, shimmering and royal makeover of her namesake castle at the heart of Walt Disney World Resort.”

They added that the transformation would not affect presentations of the “Happily Ever After” fireworks show and the “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” stage show.

Most Disneyland fans praised the new designs, with many calling the new castle concept “beautiful”.

One person said: “Much prettier than the current look, as much as I love it as it already is.”

Another person added: “Gorgeous! Thanks for bringing some extra magic to Cinderella Castle!”

However, some said that the pink made it look more like Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, while others expressed concern over the expected scaffolding which will hide it during renovation.

Someone said: “The pink isn’t sitting right with me either. The castle is such an icon, making it too flashy is a worry.”

Another Disney guest said: “I am a tad concerned there will be maybe crews blocking the view of the castle though with partitions and cranes.”

It isn’t the first time the castle has been transformed – in 1996, it famously became a giant pink cake to celebrate the park’s 25th anniversary.

Inside the castle is a Cinderella suite with a hot tub and four poster beds, only available to celebrities and VIP guests.

Disney fans can get married in front of Cinderella’s Castle although it isn’t cheap  – with prices up to £140,000.

Kids have named their favourite castles they want to visit, with Cinderella’s coming in second.
