Eva Longoria cuddles with one-year-old son Santiago for cute Parents magazine cover

She juggles a career of being a successful actress, producer, director, and businesswoman.

But Eva Longoria’s most important role is one of a doting mother.

The 44-year-old start was featured on the cover of the latest issue of Parents Magazine, alongside her precious one-year-old son Santiago.

In the pages of the monthly publication, the mother discussed being a working mom and how there is a lot weighing on those raising young boys to be a ‘good man’ when they grow up.

‘I aim to be a good mom to Santi, but as far as having opinions and really planting my flag in the ground and saying, ‘This is the system I use and everybody should use it,’ I’m definitely not doing that,’ she said in an interview with the magazine.

After she gave birth to her son, she announced his arrival on her Instagram bringing awareness to the immigration policy that separates children from their undocumented parents at the Mexican border.

‘In light of my son’s birth, I wanted to bring focus on the families that have been separated at the border. Having my son next to me, I cannot imagine him being taken from my arms. Families belong together, which is why we must do what we can to reunite them,’ she shared on Instagram.

The Grand Hotel star is from Texas and her husband, Jose ‘Pepe’ Baston, is from Mexico City.

‘I can’t even fathom losing my child to the system and never seeing him again. I couldn’t even write that post without crying,’ she said.

The actress does more than just talk about it, she took a trip down to Tijuana, Mexico back in March to visit the migrant shelters for herself.

‘Santi was with me when I went,’ she said. ‘He didn’t go into the shelters, but he’s always with me.’

‘I feel there’s more pressure to raise a good man today in this world and to make sure he understands equality and feminism,’ the Time’s Up co-founder said. ‘But it’s not about telling him, it’s about showing him in his everyday life.’

And she makes she to have women surround Santiago in his daily routine.

‘I do think there has to be a normalization within Hollywood to make sure that motherhood is accepted in a wider way,’ Longoria revealed. ‘Many times, [after becoming a mom] you no longer get the sexy roles, or you have to take time off until you’re looking a certain way.’

‘Going back to work was hard. Breastfeeding while working was hard, just for the timing of the pumping and the feedings and the sleeping and the not sleeping,’ she said.

‘You just do it and get it done. It helped that Santi has been a dream baby,’ she explained. ‘He’s healthy, he’s funny, he’s sweet, he sleeps, he eats—he’s made it easy for us,’ she continued.

But she also knows when to say no saying ‘I will pass on a project if I can’t give it my all. Now I have to be more in charge and more structured and on time,’ she admitted.

She revealed that the ‘stakes are higher’ now that she has Santiago and is doing her part to make sure the world is left a better place for her and all of the future children.
