WHEN former PM David Cameron got an £8,000 hot tub for his Cornish holiday home, debate raged.
Were these sophisticated or a bit chavvy? After all, they are where a lot of the action takes place on Love Island . . . I’m told.
But, as I found out during a fantastic short break in the Worcestershire countryside, they are the perfect way to end the day.
The base for me and my son Zak was the Hoppickers Rural Retreat at Pigeon House Farm in Leigh which accommodates guests in the renovated 17th-century barn, the shepherd’s hut tucked away in the woods or in the log cabin.
The hut and cabin have hot tubs, and on site there is also a pool, tennis court and games room.
Our cosy and beautifully furnished cabin had a double bedroom and a twin, plus an open-plan kitchen, shower room with toilet, and lounge with a log burner.
The outside decking and seating area — with that hot tub and a barbecue — are perfect for family nights or couples.
Our two dogs Roxy and Luna tore into the doggy welcome pack before accompanying us on some great walks.
Also, for research purposes only, myself and 18-year-old Zak found a cracking pub in The Bear And Ragged Staff at nearby Bransford.
Most people seem to love the Hoppickers — which won Best Self Catering Visit Worcestershire 2017 and a Visit England award — as a getaway from it all to relax.
And you don’t have to be a prime minister or a celeb wannabe to enjoy a hot tub.
