Dave Hughes has revealed what radio co-star Kate Langbroek really said to him when she dumped him via text.

Dave, 48, appeared on Sunrise on Wednesday, when he explained how Kate, 54, told him that she would be leaving their HIT radio show for the rest of the year as she enjoys her time in Bologna, Italy

The comedian said that he hadn’t heard from her in weeks when he suddenly got a text message.

‘It’s a weird one cause she’s gone to Italy to find herself in Italy with her family,’ Dave began.

‘She’s over there and we followed her and set up a little studio there in Bologna, so she can broadcast the show from there and she was doing that for the first six months of the year.’

‘And then she just texted me a couple of weeks ago and said “nup, can’t be bothered for the rest of the year.”

He added with a laugh: ‘It was just a text message. I hadn’t heard from her in a couple of weeks and then just a text message!’

Last week, Dave said he was shocked by Kate’s decision to leave the show they’ve co-hosted for two years.

‘We were planning for you to come back in a few weeks,’ he confronted Kate on air, as she called into the drive show from Italy.

Kate responded: ‘Well, you were trying to talk me into that.’

Dave went on to say that Kate ended their radio partnership via a group text message to himself and the show’s executive producer, Sacha French.

‘You texted me and Sacha a few weeks ago,’ Dave said, before Sacha summarised what the shock message said.

‘Just that she was sad, that she needed to have her year,’ she explained.

He previously revealed that Kate would be stepping away from the show until 2020.

‘Kate Langbroek will be making regular appearances on the show, but right now she is on her way to Sicily,’ he told listeners.

Introducing Ed Kavlee (who was just dumped from his 2Day breakfast show) to listeners, Dave said: ‘Welcome! You’re going to be hanging out with us until the end of the year, buddy.’

In January, Kate relocated to Bologna, Italy, with her husband Peter and four children, Lewis, Sunday, Artie and Jan, for a year-long ‘gap year’.

Despite the time zone difference, she continued to co-host her radio show with Hughesy from a home studio up until recently.
