Coronation Street's Sam Aston rushed wife Briony to hospital with agonising pain

Coronation Street star Sam Aston’s wife is recovering after an emergency dash to hospital with agonising stomach pain.

Briony Aston, who works as a yoga teacher, had been at home in bed when she suddenly got “crippling” pain in her back and stomach, prompting the dash to hospital so she could get urgent medical help.

In the pain and confusion, Briony even forgot how to breathe properly and had to be shown how to do it by the nurses.

She shared her terror on Instagram , revealing the medical emergency happened over a week ago.

Doctors believe Briony was suffering with kidney stones

“Last Sunday me and Sam sat in bed with a cup of tea binge watching Unbelievable (seriously great show on Netflix ) with both doggies under the covers and we discussed having the perfect, cosy Sunday,” she captioned her post.

“Then I started to get crippling pains in my back and belly. Long story short: Sam took me to hospital where I was given morphine for what we think was kidney stones and that ruined our Sunday dream so we’re living and loving it this week instead.”

Briony added: “PS. before the meds, the nurse basically turned into a yoga teacher and taught me how to breathe, because somehow despite teaching breath-work about 17 times a week I somehow forgot how to breathe.

“Nurses rock.”

Briony and Sam married earlier this year and honeymooned in the Maldives

Sam was by his wife’s side throughout the traumatic episode but is yet to comment publicly on what happened.

He and childhood sweetheart Briony married in May this year in front of his Corrie co-stars, friends and family.

The pair married at Stock Farm in Cheshire, joined by a host of Sam’s colleagues, including two of his closest pals – golf buddies Alan Halsall, 36, the Street’s Tyrone Dobbs, and Andrew Whyment, 38, who plays Kirk Sutherland.

Dolly-Rose Campbell, 32, who plays Chesney’s on-off girlfriend Gemma Winter, was also there to watch them wed.

Admitting to the Sunday Mirror that being married made him feel “a bit old”, Sam said: “We had the best day. The formality is there now. It feels very strange when I’m talking to someone and they ask what I’m up to.

“I usually say, just chilling out with my girlfriend. Now I have to say wife – that feels weird. It feels a bit old in a way. But it’s lovely.”

The happy couple honeymooned in the Maldives after their big day, but Sam confessed he’d missed the drizzle back home.

“I hate being away from home more than a week. The Maldives was absolutely gorgeous but, within a week, I was ready to come home,” he laughed.

“That’s the person I am. I’ll get back, it’ll be absolutely lashing it down with rain, and I’m like, ‘Ahh, Manchester.’ I love it.”
