He said: “Magic helps to remind us that there are mysteries in the world and that not everything has or needs an answer.

“In a world of answers, it’s nice to have a mystery. I’m not personally worried about people trying to work things out, because if they’re trying to work things out, they’re already denying themselves the feeling of amazement and that’s the bit that I find interesting.”

However, viewers are convinced he used two women for his disappearing trick.

One wrote: ” It was an actress and she had a twin.”

Another added: “Ha ha clearly not the same woman her hair was different and she over acted it too much in my opinion. Great egg trick though.”

A third said: “Sorry to burst ya bubbles. But she was a stooge and the second one her twin. It’s not rocket science. Sorry.”

Ben also revealed how he just wants people to feel astonished by his tricks.

He said: “I’m chasing that moment where people feel astonishment. For some people this lasts a long time and for other people they try to kill it quickly.

“All that matters for me is that they feel that initial moment of wonder – whether they choose to protect that or to destroy it is up to them, all I have to do is make sure that they feel it.

“I think that sometimes it’s nice to help other people to pretend that there might be magic in the world. After all, some of the world is still completely unexplained and the closer you look, the more mysterious it becomes.

“Sometimes I feel like I’m just a guide to help people feel wonder and feel totally in the moment – you can forget your troubles when you’re marvelling.”

He also joked that he could make anyone disappear, laughing: “Oh yes, I don’t have any enemies left.”

He joked: “I think I need as many people on side as possible! I will leave the judges safely where they are!”

He did admit to wanting to impress Simon the most adding: “I think that I wanted to impress Simon the most. He’s seen a lot of magicians now as a judge and wasn’t always a fan of magic, but now I think he likes it the most!

“Honestly, it was daunting performing for all of them, but I was stood directly in front of Simon and couldn’t avoid eye contact!”

And if he does go all the way and win – he’s already wondering if its legal to saw a member of the Royal Family in half during the Royal Variety Performance.

He said: “The idea of performing at the Royal Variety Performance is such a life-long dream I think I’ve always just considered it an unattainable fantasy, but now I’m on BGT I’ll have to think about which of my pieces I would like to do if I ever made it there.

“It’s probably illegal to saw a Royal in half isn’t it?!”
