Justin Timberlake may have issued a public apology to Jessica Biel for holding another woman’s hand, but that isn’t enough for Bette Midler.

The Beaches actress is calling for Timberlake to go a step further and apologise to another famous woman – Janet Jackson.

Bette, 74, has called for ‘Justice for Janet’, 15 years after her infamous ‘wardrobe malfunction’ at Super Bowl XXXVIII.

The legendary actress tweeted: ‘#JustinTimberlake publicly apologized to his wife for holding hands with another actress after having too much to drink, but sez nothing else happened. Who cares? He held another woman’s hand, BFD.

‘So when is Janet Jackson’s boob gonna get an apology? #JusticeForJanet.’

Bette was of course referring to Justin’s role in the Super Bowl performance in 2004, when they were performing his hit Rock Your Body.

Justin was meant to rip away a cup from Janet’s corset to expose a red lace bra, but the bra came off as well, exposing her breast which was adorned with nipple jewellery.

The incident stunted Janet’s career for years and she was forced to make a public apology, while Justin – despite causing the moment – pretty much got away scot-free, even being invited back to headline the Super Bowl halftime show in 2018.

The Sexy Back singer told Zane Lowe that he and Janet spoke about the incident afterwards, although joked it ‘wasn’t too much of a conversation. What do you want me to say? We’re not gonna do that again.’

The former N’Sync singer said: ‘I stumbled through it. You know, to be quite honest I had my wires crossed. And it’s something that you have to look back on and go, like, “OK, well, you know, you can’t change what’s happened, but, you know, you can move forward and learn from it”.’

Justin then claimed that he and Janet had made peace after the scandal, saying: ‘I don’t know that a lot of people know that. I don’t think it’s my job to do that because you value the relationships that you do have with people.’

One public apology the 38-year-old has made, though, is to wife Jessica Biel after he was pictured holding hands with his Palmer co-star Alisha Wainwright on a boozy night out in New Orleans.

In a social media note, the dad-of-one wrote: ‘I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family I feel it is important to address recent rumours that are hurting the people that I love.

‘A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgement – but let me be clear – nothing happened between me and my co-star.

‘I drank way too much that night and I regret my behaviour. I should have known better. This is not the example I want to set for my son.

‘I apologise to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that.

‘I am incredibly proud to be working on Palmer. Looking forward to continuing to make this movie and excited for people to see it.’

It has since been claimed that Jessica, 37, pushed her husband of seven years to make the statement.
