Avril Lavigne is expected to pull out of the Asian leg of her world tour – having already announced a European cancellation – as fears mount over the spread of Coronavirus.
A source close to the 35-year-old singer claims she is cancelling as many as 12 appearances across Asia, reported TMZ .
Among the shows she is reportedly set to cancel are gigs in China, the Phillippines, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Her much-anticipated Head Above Water tour was due to reach Asia on April 23.
The news comes just hours after she announced she would also be cancelling her appearance in Switzerland, in a decision she said was ‘out of her hands’.
The decision was taken after officials in the country revealed that events containing more than 1,000 people would be banned in attempt to contain the virus within the country.
She took to social media on February 28 to announce the European cancellation, much to the devastation of eager fans.

“I am really sorry about this but the decision is completely out of my control,’ she wrote on Twitter .
“I was really looking forward to come and see you all and very disappointed that the show can now not proceed. We have tried to reschedule the date but sadly that is not possible on this tour.’
As of yesterday, there have been 15 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the central European country.

Expected in Italy straight after her cancelled Swiss appearance, it is unclear whether she will cancel any other European dates going forward.
Avril has become the latest in a series of musicians that have decided to cancel appearances over the threat of the virus.
Legendary rock band Green Day took the decision to postpone their Asian tour because of the ongoing international crisis, citing ‘health and travel concerns’ for their decision.

South Korean boy band BTS soon followed suit, taking to Twitter to announce they were cancelling plans to perform in South Korea as the virus continued to spread.
Just hours ago, actor and musician Sam Fender similarly announced that he would not be performing in Switzerland in line with the new regulations in the country.
The illness has claimed the lives of an estimated 2,835 people worldwide as of today.

More than 83,000 cases of the illness, which can be transferred from person to person, have been reported worldwide.
Although transmission of the virus appears to be slowing in China, where cases were first reported, the World Health Organisation (WHO) warned that the global spread of Coronavirus is considered ‘very high’.
Countries around the globe appear to be prepping in case the virus spread accelerates, with proposals to cancel mass gatherings such as festivals, sports events and music appearances.
