Is Alton Towers closed?

Alton Towers is to continue to open on March 21, with the situation being monitored by the theme park.

Their latest statement explains: “As a large outdoor attraction, we’re developing plans to maintain space and social distance as guests move around the resort, in addition to the enhanced cleaning regimes and availability of hand sanitisation products.

“It’s important that if you do feel unwell or are in self-isolation following a member of your household showing symptoms of coronavirus, we ask you to postpone your visit until you are fully recovered.”

Guests have been asked to try and abide by the social distancing rules with two metres between them, for example in restaurants and queues, while some rides may be closed which require ride harness checks.

Anyone with tickets up until May 1 who no longer wish to visit can change them for any other date in the 2020 season, excluding special days.

Is Thorpe Park closed?

Thorpe Park is still opening on March 27 for the 2020 season.

A statement from the park states: “Whilst we are still planning to open the Resort to the general public on 27th March, as with many businesses, we are actively monitoring the COVID-19 situation; reviewing and following the guidelines of Public Health England and the Government as they develop.

“The current advice from the health authorities has not changed regarding theme parks, so we plan for our business to operate as normal and standard terms and conditions on bookings continue to apply.”

However, the Saturday Night KISS X Thorpe Park event has been postponed due to being in a closed area.

Anyone with tickets up until May 1 who no longer wish to visit can change them for any other date in the 2020 season, excluding special days such as Fright Night.
