American Airlines is ‘reimbursing passenger for lost luggage after she spotted her clothes being sold on Facebook’

A WOMAN was left feeling “violated” after her belongings were stolen from her bag following an American Airlines flight – only for her to spot them on sale on Facebook.

Kinley Rice, from Tulsa, claimed items worth thousands of dollars were removed from her suitcase when travelling through the airport.

She claims that a brand new Patagonia jacket, which can cost more than £200, was stolen, along with other things such as jumpers, leggings and her toiletry bag.

Kinely said her biggest concern was her luggage tag, which was missing, as it contained her personal information.

She later found a Patagonia jacket – the same as hers – being sold on Facebook Marketplace for $135 (£104).

To check if it was hers, she matched the bar code of the tag on the jacket with the numbers on her receipt – which matched.

After realising it was hers, she says she tracked down the seller, who was an employee of Tulsa International Airport, working at baggage services.

She told KJRH Tulsa: “I felt violated.”

Kinley added it was “scary” as she was in a hotel room by herself, and was “uncomfortable” knowing someone had her information.

The traveller filed a report with American Airlines as well as a police report with Tulsa Police Department.

She claims that AA confirmed she would be reimbursed $1,000 (£777) for her missing items.

Kinley said: “You think you can trust people, you know, when you pay money for them to be responsible for your bag.”

An American Airlines spokesperson told Sun Online Travel: “American is very concerned with these allegations.

“We are investigating this in coordination with Piedmont, and are fully cooperating with authorities.”

An easyJet passenger was left fuming after everything in her suitcase was broken and damaged after her suitcase was returned.

Another couple found £430 had been taken from their bags after they were told to check in their suitcases.

A globe-trotting baggage thief was arrested earlier this year after being caught stealing bags from a conveyor belt.
