Galaxy boss Guillermo Barros Schelotto has already leaked that the 38-year-old wants to see out his career in Italy.

And it appears after months of speculation, his future has nearly been resolved following an offer from Bologna.

The Serie A club are currently struggling and sit just three points above the relegation zone.

Bologna’s manager Sinisa Mihajlovic knows Ibrahimovic from the duo’s time together at Inter Milan and their relationship could convince the star to sign on the dotted line.

Reports in Italy suggest that a deal is closer than ever and the club are confident of signing him when the transfer window opens in January.

It is also suggested that Ibra’s longtime partner Helena Seger is eager to move back to Italy and specifically close to the capital Milan.

Earlier this month Bologna’s club director Riccardo Bignon confirmed that the two parties are in talks.

If he wants to return to Italy, we’re ready.

Bologna’s club director on Zlatan’s future

He said: “Over the last few months, Ibra and Mihajlovic have been in touch, also because of a difficult period for Sinisa.

“They have been sharing opinions about the Swedish player’s future, and he is the only one who will be able to decide where it lies.

“Over the next few months, we will get to know where his future lies, we still don’t know where he will go.

“The idea of [him joining Bologna] is fascinating, the phone calls between the coach and Ibra are there and if he wants to return to Italy, we’re ready.

“Our ambition is to enter Europe. Maybe not this year, but we are doing what we can to arrive there.”

His availability has sparked a transfer scramble across Europe and the news of his impending move will disappoint Napoli who have pushed for his signature.

Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis previously said: “It would be my wish to see him in Napoli colours, it’s more than a suggestion and it depends on him.

“It’s been talked about for a few months now.”

However they are not giving up hope of landing him seven years after his last stint in Serie A with AC Milan.
