X Factor and BGT to remain on air until 2022 in mega Simon Cowell and ITV deal

The deal is thought to be worth millions of pounds.

A source said: “There have been meetings recently between Simon’s producers and ITV executives to thrash out some of the details, but Simon is already planning how to build on the shows’ successes on ITV. Everyone is looking forward to the future.”

The insider added to The Daily Mirror: “Whilst there may be some details in the paperwork still to be ironed out, from a fans’ point of view it is a three-year deal which means these much loved shows will remain on ITV for a long time to come.”

The paper add the deal is thought to be simular to one he signed in 2016 which netted the music moguel around £25 million.

Simon is currently in the middle of a major overhaul of both The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

This year X Factor as we know it has been scrapped and replaced by two shorter series – a celebrity edition and an all stars version.

On top of that, Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions will also air on ITV by Christmas.

Earlier this week Daily Star Online revealed how filming for Celebrity X Factor has offically begun.

A host of famous faces have jetted out to Simon’s LA mansion to film the Judges houses stage of the competition.

In May Daily Star Online broke the news that hard-man Vinnie Jones had signed up to the show.

However, last week his involvment was thrown into doubt by the tragic death of his wife Tanya.

A source told Daily Star Online: “Vinnie was all set to film the show this week but after Tanya’s devastating death everything is up in the air.

“Obviously Vinnie’s well-being comes first and there would be zero pressure for him to start filming with The X Factor if he doesn’t want to.

“Producers have made it very clear that the priority is Vinnie and his family right now and not the show.”
