WWE legend Bret Hart sends health warning after being diagnosed with skin cancer

WWE legend Bret Hart has confirmed he has been diagnosed with skin cancer.

Hart, 62, took to social media to warn his fans of the importance of wearing sun protection after confirming he has basal cell carcinoma (BCC).

The five-time former world heavyweight champion posted on Instagram: “Goal for 2020 and beyond: wear more sunscreen! Basal cell carcinoma removal scheduled soon.

“Another opportunity to remind everyone to look after your health and #getchecked.”

The WWE Hall of Famer has battled a number of health problems since retiring as a wrestler and battled prostate cancer in 2016. Hart also suffered a stroke in 2002.

BCC is a common form of skin cancer and can be treated with early detection.

The condition grows slowly and it is very rare to spread and become life-threatening to those suffering.

Hart has been praised for his warning to his followers on making sure they get checked for potential conditions.

Hart, whose brother Owen tragically died during a ring entrance, made his name in the 1970s, before further success in the 80s and 90s with WWF.

He left for WCW in 1997 and spent three years with the organisation before retiring in 2000.

Hart returned to wrestling on rare occasions since calling it a day and also served as the general manager of RAW.
