WWE backstage figures trying to get Kurt Angle's Wrestlemania 35 match changed

Kurt Angle’s Wrestlemania 35 match with Baron Corbin has not gone down well with fans.

The news has been met with an overwhelmingly negative reaction from the WWE Universe – and influential figures are reportedly trying to get the match changed.

According to Rajah.com there are plenty of people pitching for a match against John Cena to replace the current Corbin event which is still planned.

However, a switch appears highly unlikely with WWE reportedly favouring the publicity received – albeit negative – by the reaction to the Corbin announcement.

Angle himself is even understood to have asked to face the legendary John Cena – who made his WWE debut against Angle – instead of proceeding with his planned match.

People are keen to get Angle’s Wrestlemania match with Baron Corbin changed

A source told Rajah : “As of this weekend, Angle vs. Corbin was still the planned match.

“Kurt and others backstage lobbied for Cena and this is just what I am perceiving, but seems WWE thinks the negative response is great for Corbin.

“Still, 2 weeks left for minds to change.”

The legendary former Olympic gold medalist will retire after Wrestlemania 35

It also appears Angle vs Corbin could still be the subject of a late switch.

Some rumours have suggested the fight is simply a placeholder, and there may be a change of opponent on the day as part of a dramatic Wrestlemania twist.

Whoever he faces, Angle’s departure is set to be an emotional moment as he calls time on his glittering wrestling career.
