A woman has shared the shocking response she received from a man she’d been seeing, after finding out he was engaged.
Anna Hense from Illinois was on holiday in Los Angeles when she ‘hit it off’ with a man named Alex and the pair became close.
However a few days after they ‘hooked up’, Alex posted on Instagram, announcing his engagement to his ex-girlfriend.
Wait… WHAT?!
Understandably, Anna was confused and decided to confront him over the bizarre situation.
She messaged him asking: “Ok wait, what was up with your Instagram post? Engaged??”
Her fling was quick to respond, but his explanation – and apology – left Anna cracking up.

He replied: “Well… we have been on and off since Thanksgiving. She caught wind that you and I were hanging out and she said that if I don’t put a ring on it, I’d never see her again.
“We are down here in Mexico for her BFF bday and s**t got wild the last few nights with drugs n s**t and friends and we didn’t expect it but we just went for it today.
“We aren’t engaged in the US yet, only Mexico, but I know that must have been really weird to see in IG and I’m really sorry for that.”
He continued: “Idk what else to say, but like, you’re f***ing rad, Franny is awesome and she is going to kill the f**k out of LA.
“I’m taking my life literally one f***ing day at a time and it’s insane, but like damn… idk, this is my life and I am in love with her with everything in my heart and I’m so glad I met you and we will continue this journey they call life.”
Anna shared their text exchange on Twitter, where it went viral, garnering over 109,000 likes and thousands of retweets.
She captioned the post: “Hit it off and hooked up with this guy last week and saw he posted a photo today ENGAGED hahahaha LA is wild.”
Later adding: “I’m still cracking up at this whole situation.”
Many people also commented sharing their thoughts on the situation.
One person wrote: “Wtf does it mean to be only ‘engaged in Mexico, not the US’ that’s literally not a legal thing… translates to everywhere. What.”
Another said: “My jaw dropped when I read that. Dodged a dummy though.”
A third replied: “I … I very much would like to speak to this man. I just have questions. Like, does he know that if you are engaged in Mexico you are also engaged elsewhere?”
Someone else added: “One time I hung out with this guy and we hit it off and a few days later he followed me on Insta and his latest post is that he’s going to be a father with his female roommate – who’s actually his ex that hasn’t moved out yet. They are back together now and have a son.”
