Wolves have escaped from their enclosure at a Canadian zoo, with suspicions someone ‘deliberately freed them’.

One of the animals is still loose following the drama at Greater Vancouver Zoo, in Aldergrove.

The zoo announced a sudden closure after the pack vanished on Tuesday.

A police investigation has since been launched into ‘malicious intent’.

Most wolves are now back in the care of the animal health and welfare team.

But at least one was still unaccounted for this morning. It is believed to be somewhere on the zoo’s property.

Langley RCMP is investigating what appears to be unlawful entry and vandalism.

A statement read: ‘The Greater Vancouver Zoo is working with the Langley RCMP and the B.C Conservation Officer Service to contain wolves that have been found outside their enclosure this morning, this is an ongoing investigation and is suspicious, and believed to be due to malicious intent.’

There is no danger to the public, zoo officials have assured locals.

But British Columbia Conservation Officer Service told CTV news people should ‘keep their distance’ if they do stumble across the animals.

Anyone who sees a wolf in the Greater Vancouver Zoo area is urged to contact the zoo.
