CHELSEA are reportedly planning for life after Maurizio Sarri with Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo lined up as a potential target.
The Blues are in danger of missing out on a Champions League spot as they sit in sixth spot ahead of this afternoon’s encounter against the Midlands outfit.
Though the Italian, 60, has revealed he is so confident he will stay at Stamford Bridge, he is already planning for next season.
Chelsea held talks regarding Sarri’s future at the club last month after West London side crashed out of the FA Cup after losing 2-0 at home against Manchester United.
The ex-Napoli gaffer is clinging onto a job following back-to-back Premier League wins against Fulham and Tottenham, with Chelsea now just five points behind Spurs with two games in hand.
But according to the Daily Star, the club’s mini-revival still hasn’t convinced the Chelsea hierarchy, who have put Santo high on their list of managerial targets.
The 45-year-old has earned rave reviews at Wolves this season, with his team playing an entertaining, free-flowing style of football.
It has been claimed that Chelsea have been seriously impressed with the former Porto goalkeeper – who was part of their 2004 Champions League-winning side.
Wolves are currently in the mix for a Europa League spot as they sit seventh in the table.
They will be hoping to beat Chelsea home and away later today having recorded a 2-1 victory at Molineux in December.
