Who will be Christmas number one? Odds on who will be top of the festive pops


THE race to top the charts this festive season is already upon us.

Here are the latest odds on who the bookies think is likely to win this year’s Christmas No.1.

Who will be Christmas number one?

Bastille’s Dan Smith is now the 6-1 joint-favourite (alongside Chris Kamara) to get Christmas Number One after he was revealed as the star behind the music to this year’s John Lewis advert.

Bookmaker Coral‘s Harry Aitkenhead said: “The John Lewis advert is always a highlight of Christmas and Dan Smith’s cover of ‘Can’t Fight This Feeling’ is going to be played up and down the UK over the next six weeks.

“It’s got every chance of landing the Christmas Number One spot and we have put it straight in at the top of our betting.”

When will the Christmas number one 2019 be revealed?

Celebrating a UK Christmas Number 1 is a festive tradition going back decades.

The very first one came back in 1952, with Al Martino’s Here in my Heart.

It will be announced in the week leading up to Christmas – so December 22, 2019.

Who was the Christmas number one for 2018?

In 2018 it was LadBaby with his hit We Built This City who scopped the festive top spot.

Mark Hoyle AKA Ladbaby is a parenting YouTuber, who was also named Celebrity Dad of the Year 2018. 

He’s released a charity cover of Starship’s We Built This City (on sausage rolls).
