Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll be struggling to swerve Meghan Markle’s name in the headlines this week.
As well as poring over Prince Harry’s wife’s every move, you’ll likely have noticed another moniker crop up: Jessica Mulroney, Meghan’s closest ally who has been looking after baby Archie whilst the ‘Megxit’ discussions rumble on.
So just who is the ultra-connected fashion designer whom the Duchess of Sussex relies on so heavily?
Here’s everything you need to know about Meghan’s closest ally…
- Jessica is a 39-year-old stylist and daughter of the Browns Shoes chain founder. After attending the McGill University in Montreal, Canada, she went on to work in sales, marketing and PR before landing a job as a stylist. Jessica has been dubbed the ‘fairy godmother of Canadian fashion’ and worked as a a fashion expert on Good Morning America and Cityline. She is also gearing up to host a bridal TV show for Netflix.
- Meghan and Mulroney forged a friendship on the set of Suits, with Jessica helping style Meghan for the show. Jessica was the brains behind the wedding dress Meghan tied the knot in on the show. As Meghan’s star rose in Hollywood, Jessica was on hand to style her for red carpet appearances. It was thought that Jessica helped style Meghan for the royal wedding and as the photos attest, Jessica was on hand to chaperone Meghan’s bridal party into the church. In fact, her twin boys, Brian and John, were page boys with Prince George and her daughter, Ivy, was a bridesmaid alongside Princess Charlotte.
- Mother-of-three Jessica is married to Canadian TV host Ben Mulroney (who just so happens to be the son of the former prime minister Brian Mulroney). This super-connected Canadian family are close pals with current Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, and his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, whom Jessica has apparently styled.
- Whilst Meghan and Harry have made the decision not to disclose who Archie’s godparents are, people are pretty convinced Jessica assumes the role. She was present at Meghan’s glossy New York baby shower in February 2019 and is probably Meghan’s closest friend.
- Like Meghan, who has always had a penchant for philanthropy, Jessica is hugely charitable. Alongside her sisters-in-law Caroline, Katy and Vanessa Mulroney, she co-founded a charity called The Shoebox Project, which provides makeup to women living in shelters.
- Meghan’s fiercest friend certainly has her back. Last week, in the midst of the drama shrouding the Sussexes’ shock statement, Jessica took to Instagram to post the ever so subtle Gina Carey quote: “A strong woman looks a challenge in the eye and gives it a wink.”
