When is Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2020?

Radio 1’s Big Weekend is taking place from May 22 – 24, 2020.

It’s the music festival run by BBC Radio 1, which was previously known as One Big Weekend.

It is held once a year, in a different location within the UK, and is the biggest free ticketed music event in Europe.

Last year saw the likes of Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish and The 1975 perform so fans can expect equally big names to take the stage.

Where is  Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2020?

Radio 1’s Big Weekend was due to be held at Camperdown Park in Dundee this year with around 65,000 people are expected to attend.

But the coronavirus pandemic has forced the festival to go online and will now solely be done virtually.

Many stars will be performing their sets from their homes, while the 1Xtra Stage will bring classic sets from years gone by.

Who is in the line up?

Despite the coronavirus pandemic seeing a number of artists drop out, there will still be plenty of live sets from the biggest names in the business.

Sam Smith and Anne-Marie will be belting out their top tunes on Saturday morning, with Doja Cat closing out the Radio 1 Stage on May 23.

On Sunday, there are plenty of treats to lift your lockdown blues including Jonas Brothers, Rita Ora, Niall Horan and Biffy Clyro before Ellie Goulding provides a spectacular end to the virtual festival.

Yet, it is not just live sets that Radio 1 will be providing as the unusual nature of the event this year allows them to show off the biggest and best from previous Big Weekends.

These include Ed Sheeran’s set in 2018, and Billie Eilish’s show in Middlesbrough last year.

Calvin Harris’ huge 2014 showcase will liven up your Saturday evening before Jay-Z brings back 2012 vibes.

Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Foo Fighters throwbacks will have you belting out your favourites on Sunday.

How can I watch it?

Unfortunately, there will be no coverage on normal TV.

But you can listen to every set on the radio across their various channels.
