Viewers to The One Show might have noticed that Matt Baker is absent from the sofa this week.

The presenter is due to bid farewell to the show for good at the end of the month, with his final appearance scheduled for 31 March.

However Tuesday night’s show saw Alex Jones on solo hosting duties – with Matt missing from his usual co-hosting spot.

Just where’s he got to? Here’s what you need to know…

Where is Matt Baker on The One Show?

Matt Baker is currently missing from The One Show as he is self-isolating in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

Last night’s show saw Alex Jones talking to Matt via a video link – where he was joined by his dog Bob – as he revealed he would be working from home for the next fortnight.

‘This afternoon we got a phone call – there are four of us in our househole – one of us has a cough, so that means we’re following the Prime Minister’s advice and spending the next two weeks self-isolating,’ he explained.

‘I feel as ready as we can do, and more than happy to do our bit and do what’s right for everybody — look out for our neighbours.’

The show is already putting contingency plans in place with Kym Marsh set to step in and co-host in Matt’s place later in the week.

Given he will be in self-isolation for the next two weeks, it’ll be the end of the month before we see Matt back on the show.

We’ll just have to wait and see whether or not he makes it back in time for his final day on 31 March.

The One Show continues on BBC One on Wednesday night at 7pm.
